| Comments: | 1965 Corvette Fastback Coupe. Asking $30,000 OBO. Porsche Red with black interior. I'm tired of maintaining 4 old Vettes. This beautiful '65 coupe has lots of minor things to be fixed or adjusted that I just don't want to do anymore after having driven Stingrays daily for the past 38 years. It can be driven to Vegas or San Francisco right now, as I have many times in the last 12 or more years I've owned it. It runs fast and smooth and handles great. I added a '67 427 hood, air conditioning and a 5-speed T-5 transmission so it runs 70 or so at 2000 rpm. It has a 3.36 posi rearend.
My daily driver the whole time, and it got compliments damn near every day. This is a Driver that you can show, drive, enjoy, or wreck without major loss, with no Stupid matching numbers B.S. It has an '85 vette motor that drips some and burns some. Power steering only factory option. Almost everything works, but I can tell you what don't. The Goodrich g-force tires still have lots of life, and show how nothing is wrong with the alignment or front end. Nothing is ready to fail that I know of. While I need to sell it because of room, effort, and money, I won't give it away. Because of it's inherent value, I will just keep it for a couple years if I have to for the market to get better. I will however negotiate and consider it's flaws and problems.
New Guards Red (Porsche) paint job up from bare fiberglass a couple years ago, but now a couple scratches and minor body damage above each front tire. You should consider that a fiberglass up paint job costs a LOT of money, and you really will not want to have to repaint it a few years down the road. So get the color you really want now (red) that will stay nice for at least 20 years. I just put a new 330 HP crate motor in my '66 roadster for less than $6,000. That amount is just a down payment on a nice paint job. I have ALL interior and exterior trim and pieces / parts not in pictures including bumpers, steering wheel, and new carpet set. I just never put car all back together since paint job because I want to drive my cars, not work on them. There are no rust problems anywhere I know of, and I have another set of stock undercar exhaust pipes for it. 15x7" American Torque thrust D rims.
The '63 through '67 fastback is the best looking Corvette ever made, and goes up in value every year. Everybody wants one. I hate giving mine up because of that, but I have a '66 I can drive. And because of fools who pay huge money just to turn them into trailer queens, you NEVER see yourself on the road. And if you do, it's a treat because you then get to look at the awesome car you also have the pleasure of driving. While the queen owner sits all day at a car show, you can storm up Palomar Mountain, laughing all the way. And if you take reasonable care of it, and are dumb enough, you can resell it in the future for way more than you bought it for. Considering the years of service and miles driven in a sexy high powered sports car, I have never lost money on any of the Corvettes I have sold over 46 years.
