2002 CORVETTE Z06

I originally purchased the car (new) because of its awesome, ready to go to the track capabilities (it’s stable mate was a Lotus Esprit X180R, another fabulous fiberglass car, which had been carrying the track duties up until then). It was then fully equipped for the track (no engine mods), but, sadly, it only got to go (trailered) to three performance driving school events in 2002. However, it did live up to its billing!

After fifteen years of track fun, life and priorities changed, and the Z06 became a pampered, covered, garaged, fair weather car, and hasn’t had a chance to visit the track since (and was never drag raced); I have no doubt that it would be as much fun today as it was then. In case you don’t know, magazine road tests have put 0 – 60 as low as 3.9 seconds; right up there with current production sporty cars; and killer in the corners, 1.00g with 2002 tires (weight matters, 3100lb).

Massachusetts has fairly rigorous vehicle inspections and the Z06 has passed without difficulty every year. There have been no accidents (on or off track) and, given its age and miles, it is pretty much as new. It has always been hand washed and waxed and well cared for. Oil has always been synthetic and changed every 3000 miles, or year, whichever comes first; with no oil added between services.

A supercar without the supercar price tag.
