This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette. I purchased it from the second owner, who had had purchased it from the original owners family. He had it for 26yrs.
It is a fantastic condition weekend driver and would look good at any local car show. 340HP 4 speed manual.
This is a hardtop only car. It was ordered from the factory with only a hard top.
Staggered-width 17? American Racing wheels with Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires measuring 205/65 in the front and 215/65 rear. Drum brakes are fitted all around. Completely serviced in 2019, along with the suspension.
The seats are black leather and matching leather treatments are present for the shift boot and 15? steering wheel.
All the weather-stripping is in very good condition.
The period correct 327ci/340hp V8 was put in the car in 1996- hardened valve seats and the factory double-hump cylinder heads sourced from the removed factory engine. Additional equipment includes a PerTronix electronic ignition assembly, an aluminum flywheel, and a 3? exhaust system linked to a pair of MagnaFlow mufflers. Borg Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission and a rebuilt rear end equipped with 3.70:1 gearing.
Work completed within the past two years included a rebuild of the carburetor and replacement of the following components:
Clutch disc and pressure plate
Clutch release & pilot bearings
FlowKooler high-flow water pump
Fuel pickup and sending unit assembly
Fuel line rubber and hose clamps from tank to pump
Spark plugs (Autolite copper)
The car comes with the original factory numbers matching engine block. When the prior owner took possession of the car in 1996, it had been in storage for about 10yrs. He had the corvette fully restored. At the time he had a choice of rebuilding the original block, but without any warranty; or putting in a period correct replacement block that had a 1yr warranty, he chose the latter. The original block has tested fine and could be rebuilt and put back in the car if someone chose to.
The removed factory block displays the engine stamping 104614, which matches the vehicle’s serial number. The RE suffix corresponds with the 327/340 engine equipped with a manual transmission and four-barrel carburetor. The block was Magnafluxed by Young’s Auto Supply & Machine in Redwood City, California before I purchased the car.
