The end of an era! 1974 was the last year GM installed a big block engine in a corvette. It is rumored that fewer than 200 left the factory in convertibles. This is only the second one we have had the privilege of owning.
Numbers matching 454/270Hp engine, automatic transmission, 55,900 miles on the dash (title is exempt for mileage), black deluxe leather interior, rally wheels, tilt and telescopic steering column, power steering, power brakes, power windows, A/C, black convertible top, hard top, AM/FM/Cassette, Gymkhana suspension, power antenna, original air cleaner assembly, original ignition shielding, and much more.
One-family-owned since new, always garage-kept and well-maintained.
We replaced the seat covers, seat foam, deluxe door panels, complete carpet set, door weatherstrips, base coat/clear coat paint job and much more. We changed the oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, rear end grease and additive, and checked and lubed the chassis.
The previous owners spent a lot of money on this corvette recently with 4 brakes calipers, 4 brake hoses, 4 sets of brake pads, rear rotors, 2 trailing arms, 2 strut rods, 4 U joints, emergency brake cable, upper and lower control arm bushings, rear spring, tongue bushing, heavy duty rear end cover, idler arm, starter, fiberglass bumpers, and much more.
In 1974 GM only released 5,474 convertibles, 1,905 with Gymkhana suspension, 3,494 with the LS4 454 big block engine out of 37,502 total production. 1974 was the first year for rubber bumpers front and rear on the Stingray.
