Car Details

For Sale: 1972 Convertible. Excellent unrestored original condition with just 31,xxx miles from new. Original Targa Blue paint with original black vinyl interior, original black soft top, and vinyl covered hardtop. Equipped with L48, M20 4-speed, tile/tele wheel, power brakes, AM/FM stereo, and vinyl covered hard top. Built July 19th, 1972 and sold new at Lloyd Bridges Chevrolet in Chelsea, MI. 5 Michigan owners from new.

Awarded winning time capsule Corvette. Awards include: NCRS Top Flight (2018) and rare 4-Star Bowtie (2019); Bloomington Survivor (1992 and 2018), Bloomington Gold and Benchmark (2018), and Gold Collection (2019); MCACN Concourse Gold and Triple Diamond (2018). Chip's Choice at Carlisle (2020). Show history documented extensively in CorvetteBlogger's popular On the Campaign Trail series.

Exterior: original Targa Blue paint. Very good condition for 49 years old. Has some very light lacquer checking on the hood and tops of front fenders. Rivets visible on the nose. Excellent gaps. Some small lacquer cracks in the usual lacquer locations. Bonding strips intact. Minor rock chips on lowers and forward edge of rear wheel wells. Front valance has the usual parking block damage. 4 correct T3 headlights. Reproduction Wide Oval bias ply tires. 1 small stone chip in windshield. Overall 9 out of 10.

Interior: 100% original. Light wear on seat trim and some minor fading on the top of the waterfall between the driver seats. 1 small crack in the driver's door armrest. All glovebox items present. Original keys on original key ring. Overall 9.5 out of 10.

Engine Compartment: Matching numbers base 200hp L48 which is aging gracefully. Runs great. Starts right up and no smoke. Some paint missing from block, heads, and valve covers. Original plug wires, carb, brake booster, alternator, radiator ignition shields, and more. Includes original RC15 radiator cap which is not on the car (needs restored). Overall: 8.5 out of 10.

Chassis: Nice patina as they say on TV. Typical aging seen on Benchmark / Bowtie cars. Light surface rust. Solid frame and bird cage with no rot. 4 original date coded shocks, original spare tire, older replacement exhaust and mufflers with correct 2nd edition welded tips, Overall: 8.5 out of 10.

Operations: Everything works except the windshield washer squirters. High/medium/low idle and TCS all work as they should; clock rebuilt to original movement. Vacuum system and overrides work properly. Drives straight and stops straight.

Documentation: Tons of documents from new including full owner history with copies of all titles; purchase agreement, tank sticker, POP, vehicle shipper, old photos, previous owners' notes, old license plates, and tons of receipts. NCRS Shipping Data Report and NCRS judging sheets + Bloomington and MCACN judging sheets. All stored in a 3-ring binder.
