The steering box is held in place by three bolts that go through the frame as well as being connected to the power steering assembly. We removed the power steering assembly (tie rods, power steering cylinder, and drag link) with the use of a pickle fork and a 5 pound hammer.

The differential and half-shafts are much easier to remove if you don't have them resting on the ground. A jack placed on the frame relieves the tension. The strut rods and the rear spring need to be removed first, however. We could not break the nuts loose holding the rear spring on, so we had to cut them off with a cutting torch. The spring is under tension, and it must be supported (with a jack) so that the spring does not snap back and injure someone when the nuts are removed from the spring.
